The weather around town changes quickly and often in the Keys! We often have small squalls pass over and make a lot of noise, but not much else. Our Jet Ski tours will still go out as scheduled in a light rain – everyone is going to get wet regardless and typically small clouds pass through quickly. If the weather in the area makes the conditions unsafe, we will contact you to cancel the tour and provide you with a full refund.
-
There is free street parking in the immediate areas surrounding both Casa Marina Resort and the Reach.
There are free parking lots at the Marriott Beachside Resort and Garrison Bight Marina.
-
Courtesy Shuttle is available on request based on availability from most Key West hotels and guest houses, but please schedule your pick-up when you book your tour.
Please contact our office at (305) 735-2241 to schedule your complimentary pickup.
-

Jet Ski Tour Info
-
We operate Yamaha EX and VX Jet Skis. They are 1100cc, 115 hp, and can go up to 45 mph.
-
Absolutely! All drivers and passengers are required to wear a full life vests, so if you end up off the Jet Ski at any time, you’ll still be safe. Our guides will be with you the whole way, so there’s nothing to worry about!
If you would rather drive for a shorter time, we also have half hour and full hour rentals. See Jet Ski Rentals below for more details!
-
We love taking people out for their first time! Our tour guides will give you all the instruction you’ll need before departure and they’ll be with you the whole way. Driving our Jet Skis is easy to learn and a lot of fun!
-
There are a number of laws regarding PWC drivers and we’ve combined them with our own policies, so it’s a little complicated. If you have any questions, please contact us and we’ll be happy to answer your questions.
- All drivers must present a government-issued photo ID at check-in to prove their age
- Drivers born in 1988 or later must present a boater’s license or take Florida’s Boater’s Safety Course
- Drivers born before 1988 do not require a boater’s license or safety test
- To drive your own ski (single) you must be at least 16 years old with a valid government-issued photo ID
- Ages 14-15 can drive a Jet Ski with an adult as a passenger
- All minors must be accompanied by a guardian to check-in
- We provide the Boater’s Safety Course for on-site for our guests, or you can take the course before you arrive for your tour by visiting our partner site here. If you choose to take the course online before your tour, remember to bring your certification.
- Drivers that choose to take the Boater’s Safety course at our location need to check in 1 hour prior to departure
- Drivers that do not need to take the test need to check in 30 minutes prior to departure.
-
We do not recommend this tour for infants and small toddlers. As the child’s guardian, you know best whether your child will enjoy 90 minutes bouncing around on a Jet Ski. We do take young children out on the Island Jet Ski tour often, and most of them have a blast!
However, this is ultimately at the tour guides’ discretion. At the end of the day, we want to make sure everyone has fun with us (especially the little guys), so they will take the day’s weather and waves as well as the child’s weight into account to decide whether your child will be safe on our Jet Skis.
If you’d rather just play around for a while, we also have half hour and full hour rentals. See Jet Ski Rentals below!
-
The Boater’s Safety course is a multiple-choice test we give out before our tours. We ask those taking the test to arrive an hour before the tour’s departure to complete this before the standard check-in. You will receive a pamphlet with all the information you’ll need to pass the test. It covers the basic ‘rules of the road’ and what signage means out on the water. The test is open book and typically takes 20-30 minutes.
This test is required by Florida’s FWC Commission for all drivers born in 1988 or later. This requirement can be waived if a passenger on the Jet Ski is over the age cut off. Once completed, the driver will receive a temporary license valid anywhere in the State of Florida for 90 days – so you’ll only have to take the test once during your stay.
-
Maybe. If your license is from a NASBLA-approved boater’s education course, you are exempt from the test. Just remember to bring it with you to check-in!
You can find a full list of their approved courses here.
-
If you’ve completed the test and bring your certification, you won’t have to take it again. Each temporary certificate lasts for 90 days.
The FWC keeps all your information in their own systems (which we don’t have access to) so we’re not able to look you up if you forgot your card. However, if you’ve passed the test before, it should be pretty quick for you the second time around!
-
Our Jet Skis can hold up to two adult passengers weighing up to 450lbs (about 204kgs). If you have smaller children with you and have a combined weight under the limit, we can still get you out on the water! Typically, the smaller child will be in front of the driver with the larger child on the back.
We cannot allow 3 or more adults on one ski regardless of weight – it’s simply not safe. We apologize for any inconvenience.
-
There is a small storage compartment underneath the seat of the ski that can hold a small bag or some bottled water. However, our Jet Skis’ storage compartments are not waterproof.
The same thing goes for what you bring up top. Everything you have on you is going to get wet and you will do some bouncing around, so think comfortable! Hats and flip-flops are not recommended.
Please keep this in mind and make sure you protect your items before you come out with us. If anything needs to stay behind, our staff will hold your items until you come back to shore.
-
Unfortunately, we can not offer day rentals for Jet Skis. Our Free Play rentals last 30-60 minutes and the drivers must stay on-property for the duration of the rental. From Key West, drivers can easily take a wrong turn and accidentally end up in another country or on military property, so the majority of the Jet Ski rentals in town are restricted. You can find more open rentals farther north, near Key Largo.
To make a reservation for a rental, contact us and we will find a time that will work for you!
-
The ride area for Jet Ski rentals is about the size of a football field. You can drive as fast as you like within that area.
-
- All drivers must bring a valid photo ID and a credit/debit card
- Bring typical beach gear (sunscreen, sunglasses, etc)
- Towels and fresh water showers are available
- Wetsuits available upon request
-
- 1 hour prior if taking the Boater Safety Course (see Age Policy)
